The Willy Haas Award is presented annually as an integral part of cinefest – Internationales Festival des deutschen Film-Erbes to an influential international print and DVD publication on the subject of German cinema. This year will be the 16th annual presentation of this prize, which is named after German-Czech author, screenwriter and film-critic Willy Haas.

The award is presented at the opening night of the International Film History Conference on the 20th of November 2019.

Each of the winners will receive a certificate and an original graphic from artist and filmmaker Franz Winzentsen.



Willy Haas Award 2019


Our 2019 jury members are: Peter Bossen (Hamburg), Judith Ellenbürger (Hamburg), Oliver Hanley (Potsdam), Uli Jung (Trier), and Fabian Tietke (Berlin).



The jury has nominated six books and six DVDs/Blu-rays, which were released within the last 24 months as candidates. The winners were named during the opening of the 32nd International Film History Conference on Wednesday the 20th November 2019 at the Metropolis Cinema in Hamburg.
Each of the winners received a certificate and an original graphic from artist and filmmaker Franz Winzentsen.
