The film from 1965/66, directed by Kurt Barthel, is based on a script by Christa and Gerhard Wolf and deals with the identification process of a young woman who likes to design her life according to her own ideas and resists state paternalism.
The fiction plot is linked with dreams and visions as well as documentary scenes that give a deep impression of the everyday life in Berlin of the 60s.
The reconstruction made by Ralf Schenk and Ingeborg Marszalek does not try to finish the film. The materials, preserved by the Bundesarchiv, have rather been edited in the order given by the filmmaker's screenplay. Original sound has been kept, lacking dialogue passages substituted by subtitles.
